néostigmine nom féminin Médicament de synthèse utilisé dans le traitement des atonies intestinales ou vésicales, de la myasthénie et en réanimation pour combattre l'effet des curares.

néostigmine [neostigmin] n. f.
ÉTYM. XXe (in Larousse, 1963); de néo-, et -stigmine, élément caractérisant des médicaments qui inhibent l'action de la cholinestérase et des autres estérases qui scindent l'acétylcholine en ses constituants inactifs.
Méd. Médicament stimulant du système parasympathique, employé comme antidote du curare et pour combattre la myasthénie et diverses atonies post-opératoires. || La néostigmine, alcaloïde synthétique proche de l'ésérine.
